The Langel Firm, a small consumer rights practice that primarily does consumer debt defense and Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act work, is seeking a 2L or 3L intern to support two attorneys (NYLS alums). Currently, the practice focuses on defending consumers against credit card lawsuits, settling debts, and suing debt collectors for abuse.
The Langel Firm is currently working to expand into other practice areas, and is in need of a legal intern to assist primarily with drafting of litigation documents so that they can increase their caseload.
The firm is seeking an intern for the full school year, although qualified fall/spring only interns will be considered.
As an intern, you will:
- Assist attorneys with follow up on open-ended tasks such as ensuring completion of fully signed stipulations and filing documents with the court;
- Prepare, send and receive documents from clients and opposing counsel;
- Draft responsive pleadings, motions, stipulations, and other litigation documents; and
- Conduct legal research relating to local, state, and federal consumer protection statutes, and extensive research to gain familiarity with the NY CPLR.
The Langel Firm is seeking somebody committed to and enthusiastic about the legal practice, consumer rights and/or civil rights. Please note that while they are only hiring at intern at this time, there is potential for future growth with this practice.
